It’s November, and You Know What That Means

I’m not talking turkey here, or Day of the Dead, and certainly not Black Friday (which I abhor, but that’s a topic for another time. Maybe Black Friday).

I’m talking NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month for the uninitiated.  This is the month in which writers of all types and persuasions undertake to write a novel in 30 days — or at least 50,000 words of a novel. Or a short story collection. Or a nonfiction book. Or a seriously loooong essay. The rules are pretty flex, and there  exists a forum for NaNo rebels who find even those strictures confining.

I am a huge NaNo fan, and I will be busy whacking away at my keyboard this month. But yes, still blogging. To start things off, however, I offer you this reprint of an oh-so-useful and inspiring post from the divine Kristen Lamb:
